Why Is My Dyson Not Charging?
If your Dyson stick vacuum is operating properly there will not be any status light unless the model always has a status light feature.
When your Dyson is in its charging station, there should be a status light to show that it is charging, or fully charging.
For most models of Dyson vacuums it will take around 3 and a half hours to fully charge, but this can vary by model.
However, if your Dyson is attached to your charging station and plugged in, and you do not get an indicator showing that the device is charging, there is a chance that you have a problem and your device is not functioning properly.
There are several reasons which could be causing this as well as ways to fix this.
You Could Be Having Issues Connecting To The Power Outlet
Firstly, before assuming anything is wrong with the device itself, it could be a simple human error and your charging station may not be properly plugged into an outlet.
If this is the issue make sure your plug is fully secured into the outlet and see if this solves the issue.
You could also be working with a faulty outlet, so either try testing the outlet with a different device or attempt charging the vacuum at a different power source.
You Could Have A Damaged Power Cord Or Charger
For most Dyson Vacuums there will be some form of a cord or charger connecting the Dyson or its charging station to your power outlet.
While these are usually durable enough, there is a chance that they could have gotten damaged and this could easily impede the ability of the vacuum to charge properly.
Make sure to check the cable under good lighting and make sure to check both sides to see if there are any visible issues.
If this is the problem make sure to try and get the cable repaired or replaced which should be possible if the product is within warranty.
Your Docking Station May Not Be Working Properly
Different Dyson Stick vacuums utilize different types of docking stations which are used to make sure that your vacuum is getting charged in the most efficient way possible.
So, if this device has gotten damaged there is a chance that this could be affecting the ability of your Dyson to charge.
You will want to make sure that the docking station is set up as recommended in the manual of your device and that it is properly receiving power.
If it is visibly damaged this could also be an issue so look out for this too.
Your Vacuum May Need Cleaning
If your vacuum is overly soiled from excessive cleaning without proper maintenance, this will impede many functions of the performance of the vacuum, including its ability to charge.
You will want to make sure to check the 2 main culprits of this issue being anything clogging the brush head or nozzle, or an unclean filter that needs cleaning or replacing.
It is usually quite easy to tell if something is stuck in the nozzle or brush head and because of how easy they are to access, it is usually quite easy to fix any issues which are causing them to ruin your vacuum.
There are usually guides in your device’s manual on how to clean these areas.
When it comes to the filter or filters of your vacuum you will want to check how often they need to be cleaned or replaced and then do so as if the air flow is being impeded by this, the performance of your vacuum is greatly limited.
There are many guides and videos displaying exactly how to clean these as they are integral to the function of your vacuum.
You May Need To Replace Your Battery
This is the last resort, but there is a good chance you could have issues with your battery, these are usually caused by excessive use, or just being used for too long.
Almost all modern cordless Dyson vacuum cleaners should have easy access to replacement batteries, and they are usually not too expensive, definitely cheaper than having to buy a whole new vacuum.
If your product and its battery is within warranty, you might even be able to get a replacement battery for no cost!
