The Shark stick vacuum is known for being light and easy to use, being able to reach under any obstacles and seeping out even the tiniest bits of dirt and waste on any surface.
They do however need to be charged to run at this level which can take a little bit of time until they are ready to go again.
Luckily there are various ways you can charge up a Shark stick vacuum which can add a huge amount of flexibility to the product depending on whether you want to place it to the side while it charges, or if you even want to keep using it while it’s being powered up.
Here are all the different ways you can charge a Shark stick vacuum so you can use the method most suits to your cleaning situation.
Li-Ion Charger
The most common way of charging a Shark stick vacuum that also allows you to continue using the vacuum while it charges, the Li-Ion charger is easy to use and features a very long cord which can reach around any corners if needed.
There are a few ways you can use this standard charger with a Shark stick vacuum.
Hand Vac Attached To The Wand
One way you can use the Li-Ion charger is while the hand vac, which can be detached, is still attached to the wand.
This is great if you want to continue cleaning with a long reach and need to get some distance on certain surfaces.
All you need to do is locate the charging port at the back of the vacuum located right at the top.
You can either let the vacuum rest on the side of a wall while it charges this way, or you can continue using it; however, keep in mind that if it is still in usage, it will charge slightly slower, usually taking about 4 hours to fully charge rather than the regular 3 and a half hour average.
Handheld Hand Vac
You can also use this charger with the hand vac in handheld mode in much the same way.
The hand vac of a Shark stick vacuum is the smaller and portable compartment of the vacuum that will still do a great job at cleaning, but is better used when you want to get up close and personal with cleaning, or are having a hard time scooping up waste with the regular wand attached.
You can remove the handheld vacuum by pressing down on the wand release button and then pulling it up, the charging port will be in exactly the same place being at the back near the top of the vacuum.
The good news is that the charging time will not differ whether you have the wand attached or not, however it can be a bit more troublesome to use just because you won’t have as much reach and may need to step over the long cord every now and again.
Storage Mode
If you have one of the newer models of Shark stick vacuums that features the MultiFLEX feature, then you will also be able to use the Li-Ion charger while it is in storage mode.
To do this, look for the light blue button down the middle of the vacuum which will have an unlocking symbol on it.
Press this down while pushing the vacuum forward and it will fold over, being perfect for storage.
You can still charge the vacuum when it is in this state, making it perfect for putting away and powering up for next time.
This time, because the front of the vacuum will be folded over, the charging port will be near the bottom.
Charging The Battery
Most Shark stick vacuums now have a removable battery which the user can charge themselves, being very easy to do making it simple to use multiple batteries at a time and being able to regularly switch them out so one doesn’t burn out too easily.
Manually Charge The Battery
You can use the same charging port for when you charge up the vacuum while in use to also charge up the battery on its own.
The battery will be the sheen looking compartment at the very top of the vacuum with two gray buttons on each side of it.
Push both these buttons in and lift the battery up and it will slide right out.
The charging port will be on the top right side of the battery, plug the charger into this port and leave it to the side for around 3 and a half hours for it to be fully charged.
If the battery has been in use and is not yet empty, it will on average fill right back up in as little as an hour and a half.
Ion Battery Pack
The ion battery pack is another great way to charge up the battery that has been introduced for more and more models recently.
This pack is made up of 25.2 volt removable lithium-ion batteries that can be recharged and then inserted back into the vacuum.
You can easily charge the battery by sliding it into the power pack which will then be ready to go in around 3 and a half hours.
It is also good to keep in mind that the standard charging packs provided by Shark have two docking spaces, so they are designed to charge two batteries at the same time.
This is always worth making use of as switching between batteries fairly regularly can ensure one does not die out too fast, adding a lot of long term value.
The three lights on the battery pack will flash blue when it is in the middle of charging and they will turn off completely once it’s finished.
To insert the batteries back into the vacuum, simply slot it on the back of the handheld vacuum and to remove it again for when you need to recharge it, pinch the release tab and slide the batteries back out.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Fastest Method Of Charging A Shark Stick Vacuum?
While all methods will charge the vacuum in an average of between 3 to 4 hours, for the fastest results it can be the best idea to put the vacuum into storage mode so it is not powered up at all, and placing it on charge with a regular Li-Ion charger.
This will not take down the charging time drastically, but since the vacuum will not be powered on it can cut off 20 to 30 minutes as it is using up much less energy.
Manually charging the battery or using a power pack are also excellent options, just be careful not to rely on this method too much as they are more likely to burn out the battery faster which is why it can also be worth buying an extra battery and charging each one to avoid this.
Summary
There are a few ways to charge a Shark stick vacuum which is part of the reason they are so popular today.
Whether you want to charge on the go or while the vacuum is neatly put aside for a later date, the choice is yours.
