How To Empty A Dyson V10
Your Dyson V10 has an attractive and convenient design, so it’s no surprise that it’s also incredibly easy to empty.
When you’ve sucked up enough dirt, dust, and debris to fill the bin on your Dyson V10, follow the steps below to empty it.
Before you start, make sure you’ve removed the vacuum wand from the front of the bin.
- Hold your vacuum with the bin in a downward position
- Then, push the red release button on your vacuum to release the bin
- The bin will start to slide down, cleaning the shroud of the hoover as it goes
- Once this happens, the bin base will open, and you can empty the contents of the bin.
- If the base of the bin doesn’t open, you have not pushed down the red button fully.
Remember: to open the bin, you must push the red lever down and away from the body of the vacuum.
How To Check The Dyson V10 For Blockages
Even if you’ve emptied the bin on your Dyson V10, your vacuum may no longer work the way it used to.
If your V10 is failing to pick up dirt and dust, you may have a blockage.
Here’s how you can check for blockages in your V10.
If any part of the V10 becomes blocked, the vacuum may automatically cut out. If the machine cuts out, the LED blockage indicator light may continue to flash for 60 seconds.
This light can be found to the left of the vacuum handle. Before checking your vacuum for blockages, ensure it’s unplugged from the charger.
- First, check the cleaner head for a build-up of dirt and debris. To do this, remove the cleaner head from the main pole (wand) of the vacuum, and turn it upside down. Debris may collect on, around, or to the back of the vacuum rollers. If you find any debris, remove it and check the vacuum airway for any further blockages.
- Place a finger or a long, blunt instrument into the neck of the cleaner head, and pull out any debris. This debris may also be visible at the top of the neck.
- Now you’ve checked the head of the vacuum, go ahead and check the inside of the wand for blockages. Remove any visible debris.
- Don’t forget to check the bin for blockages. Empty the bin, and assess the air inlet on the side of the vacuum’s cyclone. Remove any blockages.
V10 Filter Light Flashing: What to Do?
Is the filter light on your Dyson V10 flashing? When the filter indicator starts flashing, the machine will usually stop if the filter unit is missing or not fitted correctly. Here’s how to correct the issue:
- Remove the filter unit of the vacuum by turning it anti-clockwise
- Now, try refitting the filter by twisting it clockwise until it clicks back into place. Check that it’s completely sealed and sitting comfortably in the vacuum
That’s it! The indicator should now stop flashing, and the vacuum should work again.
If the problem persists, even when the filter is fitted correctly, we’d advise contacting Dyson for further support.
